Iran

investmenttool.com Opinion

The next step in the war on terror may need to be Iran. The events of the past two weeks has shown them to be a bigger danger to U.S. interests. A number of actions, both special and ongoing show that Iran is at best a poor partner in the war on terror. At worst, they are the enemy. Its time to find out.

Recent reports have seen former Taliban officials crossing the border and finding sanctuary in Iran. Worse yet, al Qaeda officials have also been seen on the wrong side of the border. Ossama bin Laden might have somehow made it there after a feint into Pakistan. Any of these outcomes is unacceptable. After September 11, any of these outcomes should be considered causus belli, a cause for war.

The January 3, seizing of of the Karine A, loaded with 80 tons of Iranian weapons bound for Yasser Arafat's Palestinian authority is a direct challenge to U.S. policy. Mr. Arafat has been warned to be serious about his peace efforts or risk the Afghanistan treatment. This is also unacceptable and should be considered a cause for war.

Iran has been accused of trying to destabilize the new regime in Kabul. The problem Afghanistan has had over the past three decades is interference from their neighbors. Once gain after spending American blood and treasure, these kind of actions are also a cause for war.

Lastly, the Iranian regime is continuing to ship arms to Lebanon via the Damascus airport. These weapons are being used to attack Israel. Though the terror was never acceptable, Israel has completely withdrawn from Lebanon and weapons shipments should have stopped. Once gain a cause for war, attacking our longtime ally in the region.

It is time to directly challenge Iran. As George W. Bush said, you are either with us or against us. A list of unacceptable activities needs to be forwarded to Iran along with a deadline for compliance. The time for pussyfooting around the Iranian regime has long since passed.
