A day that will live in infamy

investmenttool.com Opinion

September 11, 2001, a date that will live in infamy.

In an unprovoked assault, the cowardly forces of darkness precipitated upon this nation an act so heinous it defies description by mere words. They did not come onto the battlefield, openly opposing this nation with honor. They did not face our soldiers. They attacked the innocent, robbing children of their mothers and fathers.

On this date the cowardly forces and nations of world terror launched a cruel, surprise attack thinking they could destroy the heart of our nation. They hurt us, but did not even come close to inflicting a mortal wound. Let this day be remembered as the beginning of the end for lawlessness and terror. Let this day be remembered as the first day in the war to create a just and civilized world.

This is an act that shall never be forgotten.

This is an act that shall never be forgiven.

This is an act that tests us as Americans and as human beings. We can not stand by idly now that war has been made upon us. It was not declared in advance, but it surely is a war.

We shall reach out across the globe to fight and eliminate this enemy. We shall fight alone or with the entire civilized world on our side. We shall pursue those responsible to every corner of the globe and we shall wipe them out.

There will be no trial until this war is over. The American people may seem weak because they are slow to anger. This slumbering giant will rise up and smite those that wish to steal our freedom. We have not yet begun to fight for our freedom.

Woe to the nation that supports this kind of warfare. Woe to the nation that is not on our side in this struggle.

We shall accept nothing less than complete victory.

We shall accept nothing less than unconditional surrender.

We shall accept nothing less than the complete elimination of terror on this planet.

We shall accept nothing less than justice.

It is with these thoughts in mind that as a citizen of the United States of America, I respectfully request the Congress declare that a state of war exists. This state of war exists between all terrorists and the nations that harbor them.

We must remember one more thing. The reason for war is not revenge or killing the enemy. The purpose for war is to bring about pace.

My God Bless the United States of America

.... Part II ...

From the President down to the man on the street, the word war is used quite often. What does this really mean? There are not many of us who actually understand what a war is.

War is a different set of rules. Trials are not necessary. If it's the enemy and it moves, you kill it. That is war. The enemy may not be so easy to find.

President George W. Bush, made clear that not only would the terrorists be targeted, but those who harbor them as well. Iraq harbors terrorists and may be involved in the attack. Iran harbors and trains terrorists in their own country and in Lebanon. Syria supports the same terrorists in Lebanon. Pakistan has nuclear weapons and supports the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Which brings to mind another critical situation. It appears that Pakistan is more fearful of a negative reaction among their Islamic fundamentalists and those of the Taliban than they are of a U.S. response. This is a critical problem in our efforts at deterrence.

Pakistan must be made to understand what the consequences of being an enemy of the United States. If there is action against them, it should include eviscerating their nuclear capabilities.

War has been declared upon is and fought in our capital of government and finance. Its victims are our innocent civilians for the most part. It is morally equivalent to the attacks on innocent women and children by Arafat harbored terrorists. It just happens to be on a much grander, sickening scale.

The nations of this planet must realize this. You are either with us in this fight or against us. We will not indiscriminately kill civilians. That is not our way. We will fight with fury and vigor, such that has not been seen since the Second World War.

We will be victorious in this war. We will probably lose many more soldiers in the battles ahead.

We must accept that this is a fight that will be measured in years if not decades. Though we will win, we may lose more battles. They will not change me. They will not make me run.

We must be understanding of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who has been waging a war where his forces go out and kill terrorist leaders. This policy has prevented many attacks on his nation and some attacks on the United States. The U.S. has criticized this policy. On these pages, I attacked that decision. We now see all to well that Ariel Sharon was right. Perhaps he was too restrained.

We must honor the brave souls aboard United Airlines Flight 93 who decided they would not be uses as instruments of mass destruction. These American hero's may have saved our President or our government. Their bravery is exceeds that of many who have seen combat. In wars past our combat soldiers were at least trained. Without training, these people made a statement. We will not be used this way.
